Power Pipe™

Approximately 80%-90% of all hot water goes down the drain carrying with it billions of kWh and billions of pounds & euros. Much of this wasted energy can be
recycled using Power- Pipe™, a very simple device replaces a section of vertical waste-pipe with an all copper heat exchanger. As hot waste water falls through the device, clinging to the inside surface of the copper pipe, efficient transfer of heat to an outside coil,
carrying mains water back to the cylinder, takes place. 60% to 80% of the waste hot water can be reclaimed without contamination. Many Multi-residential and
commercial applications.

How the Power-Pipe™ Works

Drainwater clings to the inside pipe wall and falls quickly creating a thin “falling-film” which quickly imparts its heat to the pipe wall. Copper is used for both the inner pipe and outer tube, and its conductivity has a heat transfer rate that is 4-6x greater than other classes of heat exchanger on a surface area basis.

The Power-Pipe™ is an all-copper section of drainpipe. As water falls down a vertical section of drainpipe, it clings to the inner surface in a very thin film. The heat from this film is transferred easily and efficiently to the cold water circulating in the Power-Pipe™ around the outside of the drain pipe.
